Eastern Massachusetts Association of Nurse Associates and Practitioners

President’s Message

EMNAPNAP

Greetings!

As we move into the new year, I would like to reflect on the growth of the chapter and the generosity of many members who have made the past year a successful one.

Many of you know that our Chapter is one of the largest chapters in the country, since our unification with National in June of 2009, our membership numbers have climbed to over 300 pediatric nurse practitioners throughout the state of Massachusetts, and the Northeast region. This influx of new chapter members has not only reinvigorated our chapter, but has allowed our chapter to utilize the increased dues revenue to move forward on several key initiatives targeted at increasing chapter participation.

A primary goal of my presidency has been to improve the flow of information directly to chapter members by utilizing new technology to distribute chapter information to members. To this end, I would like to welcome you to our newly re-designed and relaunched chapter newsletter. My hope is that this new format will be a way to keep chapter members abreast of news that affects our practice and the communities we serve. I invite all chapter members to submit articles, or information that may be helpful to the larger membership. Your submissions to the newsletter help keep it interesting and clinically relevant and we are excited to revive this format as a way you may share you clinical expertise.

Our growth is also reflected by recent increases in the number of members who are joining us for chapter meetings. It has been a pleasure to meet many of you in person, finally putting names to faces, and hearing directly from you the types of information and outreach you would like to have the chapter provide.

My gratitude goes out to the many chapter members who have generously shared their time and talents to help the chapter grow. As a volunteer-run chapter, we depend on chapter members who generously donate their time to serve the larger membership. This year, many of you have stepped up to fill open positions on the board, have worked to plan interesting and fun chapter meetings, have created inventive and effective communication tools for the chapter, and have continued to help maintain accurate finance and membership records. Your generosity and dedication to serving the chapter has inspired me on many levels!

May this New Year bring wellness to all,

 Amy Alleman ~ President
